🎖️🏅🥇 I reward you with 3 more! When I was younger, I often tried to google diabetes and try to make sense of it. (My mom often told me that I was going to get diabetes for eating candy and I might go blind or lose a limb.) Sometimes I got a little closer to understanding the two types, and how insulin worked for them, but after a while I’d just forget. Maybe I’ll make sense of it again by learning from someone who lived to tell the tale.
Thanks for the extra medals! Will try my hardest to explain as I possibly can in an easy to understand way with as few a words as possible. Insulin breaks down the carbohydrates that we eat. If your pacreas which produces the insulin is either not producing (T1) or not producing enough (T2) then you will get high sugar levels in your blood. If you do not control your levels to as close to the normal range after a time your body will start to deteriorate. By that I mean you can go blind, have amputations and many other ailments. Imagine that the sugars in your blood have now become so much that they begin to cling to each other and block off your blood supply. The eyes and your toes are normally the first as they do not have major blood supplies. Your kidney's also dont fair too well because they also have a small blood supply. There are two well known diabetes T1 and T2. T2 is developed normally by having obesity, being overweight, unhealthy waist line. There are other conditions which could start diabetes T2 they are just the most common. Please note, that these are my own words, I know this is not exactly how it would be described medically.
A comprehensive overview on what living with Type I Diabetes is like, I'm sure many people will have no idea of what's involved so thanks for sharing. I'd say that medal has been well and truly earned, all power to you on your continued journey of living well with Diabetes.
