You're really speaking my language here. Thanks for writing this. I was moved and the metaphor of the storm is , well, yeah, what I'm all about here. I'm glad you got through those worst parts and let's support each other!
Thank you for the words above. I always knew that something was not right, I thought it was all part and package of diabetes. Boy, was I wrong. That expression 'high on life' when people said that I would just look at them thinking 'no such thing'. I get that now I truly do. When my chemical imbalance was balancing itself the peak of the balancing was in September last year. What a couple of weeks that was! I asked my psychiatrist was this normal. She had tears in her eyes as she informed me that yes, what I was experiencing was Dopamine resurgence. I literally felt as if I had taken MDMA when the reality was I had taken nothing, bit scary but very pleasant. I now refer to that was me then. That was a different person. Glad to be here does not sum it up enough, I am high on life and love it.
This is a fantastic journey! My daughter has type 1 as well and though I can't truly understand, I feel for you. Do you have a special diet other than the one doctors provide us? I'm reading a wonderful book called The Diabetes Solution by Dr. Richard K. Bernstein and I believe he is bringing so much to the table๐ Pun intended.
Thanks for your kind words Jeff. I truly hope your daughter is coping well with her own Diabetic journey. I have no special diet as such though I do try not to eat carbohydrates for my evening meal as cannot stand getting high sugars during night time. Best wishes to you and yours.
